SOLO EXHIBIT UNLEASHES YOUR IMAGINATION ON A VISIONARY JOURNEY
Mary Lou Blackledge’s latest exhibit is entitled, “Visionary Tales”, and is certain to take your imagination on a ride. The 21 original works on canvas and panel explore the limits of your imagination, challenge your eye with magnetic color harmonics, and bring out your inner visionary. Blackledge posits, “Your imagination is the most powerful tool you possess … ‘more powerful than knowledge’, according to Albert Einstein”. She continues, “But like all functions of the human being, the imagination must be exercised and honed to be truly effective. I create my paintings to charm the viewer into just that receptive state where they can unleash their imagination and experience a visionary journey. The imagery within my abstract compositions is evocative, mysterious, poignant, humorous, and sometimes even haunting. I deliver this imagery through a melding of euphoric color harmonics. I want to engage and uplift your mind in a search for the extraordinary within the ordinary which is the very definition of the purpose of the human imagination.”
Mary Lou Blackledge’s ‘Visionary Tales’ can be seen at the Gallery at Studio j, 742 Santa Fe Drive, Denver, CO from May 4th through May 27th. There will be a reception with the artist on Friday, May 20th from 6-9 pm and on Saturday, May 21st from 6-9 pm. The gallery is open Wednesday-Saturday, noon to 6 pm.
Mary Lou Blackledge is a Denver-based artist who began her career in France painting architectural street scenes. She says, “It was only when I shoved off the familiar shores of painting the physical world that I truly began seeing … and I have discovered that the natural world inside of us is actually much, much more dynamic than is the outer, material world.”
